What is the process of signing my child up to Lemongrove?
Your first step is to book a Nursery Visit. Whilst you’re at the Nursery, you’ll be introduced to all the Practitioners and have an insight into the three different play areas. On your visit, you will learn about the different routines, observe our practice and ask any questions you may have.
Can I choose which days my child attends Lemongrove Nursery?
Yes. We operate Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm for 50 weeks of the year (excluding bank holidays). You can choose days to meet your requirements, subject to availability. Please note, all children must attend a minimum of 2 full days, or 4 sessions for our Toddler and Preschool Rooms.
My child is eligible for extra funding from the Government. Do you accept this?
Yes we do, however our funded spaces are limited.
Would it be possible for my child to attend outside of their attendance days? What is the procedure for this?
We accept children to attend on an ad hoc day, subject to availability. The earliest you plan for this to happen, the easier it is for us to include them in our room ratio. You can inform us and ask for availability through the Room Leader, phone call or email.
Are there car parking facilities on site?
Lemongrove Nursery is situated by Norman Park. The park operates a free of charge car park for cars to be left at owners’ risk. Throughout the year, the park closes early, therefore please be aware the park gates will close at dusk.
What adult/child ratio’s do you operate?
The ratios are different across the nursery, depending on the age of the children. Our ratios are as follows and outlined by the Early Years Statutory Framework;
Bumble Bees’ (Under 2) 1 adult – 3 children
Honey Bees’ (2-3 years old) 1 adult – 4 children
Busy Bees’ (3 years +) 1 adult – 8 children
What is your procedure for settling in new children?
We understand that starting a new nursery may be difficult for any child. Each child receives three settling in sessions whereby the family will be introduced to the nursery room, staff and other children. The sessions allow the child to engage in activities and explore, while parents are nearby. The parents are welcomed into the office on the child’s second session to complete admission paperwork. During this time, the room staff can begin to learn and understand the child, their needs and likes/dislikes. The settling in process concludes on the third session, when we hope parents are comfortable to leave the child for a longer duration in our care.
How much notice do I need to give if I no longer require the nursery place?
Firstly, we are very sad to know you’ll be thinking of this option. But if you wish to do so, our notice is 8 weeks. Please refer to our terms and conditions.
My child has a food allergy. How do you tackle this?
We have thorough procedures for ensuring children with allergies and preferences are catered for. All staff, including our cook, are made aware of the individual children’s allergies. If your child has medication for this, please ensure the Manager of the nursery is informed, as well as the staff in the room.
What happens if I am running late when picking up my child?
We operate a strict non-collection policy and would ask that all parents keep us fully informed if they are held up when travelling to collect their child. A record of this will be kept.
What opportunities do I have to discuss my child’s progress?
Parents may wish to talk to their child’s key person throughout the year by a mutually convenient appointment. Every child has a ‘Learning Journal’ which is made available for you to read. We also hold biannual parents’ evenings in the spring and autumn term, to share the child’s development records and discuss their progress. In addition, a written report is conduct termly to keep parents up to date with their child’s development and next steps.
Do you have any extra-curricular activities?
Yes we do! We have a variety of different activities throughout the week for the different ages of the children. They are as follows;
Monday: 10am Baby Bumbles and Honey Bees’ Music Session; 10:30am Busy Bees’ Yoga Session
Thursday: 10am Honey Bees’ and Busy Bees’ ‘ProStars’ Sports session (extra cost)
Friday: 10am Busy Bees’ Yoga Session
Throughout the week: Spanish lessons for all rooms, Cooking lessons in Busy Bees’
Are there any closures throughout the year?
We are closed for 2 weeks over the year. This includes our weekly closure in the summer – used for building maintenance and closed across the Christmas period. We are also closed for bank holidays.
